PM Surya Ghar subsidy in Indore — the full ₹78,000, explained

What you actually get, who qualifies on an MPPKVVCL connection, the documents, the real timeline, and what your system costs after the subsidy lands in your account.

Short answer: the central subsidy is ₹30,000 for 1 kW, ₹60,000 for 2 kW and ₹78,000 for 3 kW and above — ₹78,000 is the cap, so a 5 kW or 10 kW home system gets the same ₹78,000 as a 3 kW one. It comes to your bank account by DBT after your system is commissioned and the net meter is installed. In Indore, plan for roughly 8 to 12 weeks end to end.

How much subsidy you actually get

PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana is a central scheme for residential rooftop solar. The amount is fixed by system size, not by what you paid for the system.

System sizeCentral subsidySubsidy per kWWho it suits
1 kW₹30,000₹30,000Bills under ₹800 a month
2 kW₹60,000₹30,000Bills around ₹1,200–1,500
3 kW₹78,000₹26,000Most Indore homes, bills ₹2,000–3,000
5 kW₹78,000₹15,600Bills ₹3,500–5,000
10 kW₹78,000₹7,800Large bungalows, bills ₹8,000+

Two things people get wrong here. First, the subsidy is capped at 3 kW — going bigger does not get you more money from the scheme. Second, Madhya Pradesh does not currently add a state top-up for residential rooftop on top of this, so ₹78,000 is the realistic maximum for a home in Indore. Housing societies and RWAs have a separate window of ₹18,000 per kW for common-area load.

Who is eligible on an MPPKVVCL connection

  • The electricity connection is domestic and in the applicant’s name — commercial and agricultural connections do not qualify.
  • You own the house, or have written consent from the owner or the society.
  • Your sanctioned load supports the system size. A 3 kW system needs at least 3 kW sanctioned load; if yours is lower, load enhancement comes first.
  • The system is grid-connected with net metering. Off-grid and battery-only systems get no subsidy.
  • Panels are DCR / ALMM-listed and the inverter is BIS compliant. From 1 June 2026, systems commissioned under net metering also need cells from ALMM List-II.
  • You have not already claimed central rooftop subsidy on the same connection.
  • An active bank account in the same name, for the DBT transfer.

If any one of these is off — most often sanctioned load or a name mismatch between the bill, Aadhaar and bank account — the claim stalls at the DISCOM stage, not at the end. That is why we check all of it before quoting.

Real cost

What a system costs in Indore after the subsidy

These are WaveOn’s turnkey prices, GST included, with DCR panels so the subsidy applies. You pay the full amount; the ₹78,000 comes back to your account after commissioning.

SizeBase packageAfter ₹78,000Premium packageAfter ₹78,000
3 kW₹1,80,000₹1,02,000₹2,00,000₹1,22,000
5 kW₹2,80,000₹2,02,000₹3,00,000₹2,22,000
8 kW₹4,30,000₹3,52,000₹4,50,000₹3,72,000
10 kW₹5,00,000₹4,22,000₹5,20,000₹4,42,000

If you choose non-DCR panels you give up the subsidy, and we price the system ₹78,000 lower — your out-of-pocket cost ends up the same, you just don’t wait for the transfer. Full size-by-size detail is on our savings and price page.

The process in Indore, step by step

This is the MPPKVVCL route as it actually runs, not the portal’s best case.

StageWhat happensRealistic time
1. Papers readyIVRS / consumer number, sanctioned load check, Aadhaar, bank details, latest paid bill1–3 days
2. Portal registrationRegister on pmsuryaghar.gov.in, select Madhya Pradesh and MPPKVVCL, upload documents, get the reference number1 day
3. Feasibility approvalThe DISCOM checks transformer capacity, sanctioned load and documents2–3 weeks
4. InstallationStructure, panels, inverter, wiring, earthing — done only after feasibility approval2–4 days
5. Net meter and inspectionCommissioning documents uploaded, DISCOM inspects and installs the bidirectional meter2–3 weeks
6. Subsidy by DBTClaim generated on the portal after commissioning approval, amount credited to your account2–6 weeks

Total: usually 8 to 12 weeks from registration to money in the bank. Anyone promising the subsidy in two weeks is either skipping feasibility approval or guessing.

Documents to keep ready

  • Latest paid MPPKVVCL bill, not older than three months
  • Aadhaar, front and back in one PDF — the name must match the electricity bill
  • Cancelled cheque or the first page of the bank passbook
  • Property tax receipt or sale deed
  • Society or RWA NOC, if you are in an apartment or gated scheme
  • A daytime photo of the roof
  • The self-declaration the portal generates, signed

What we do, and what stays with you

WaveOn handles

Sanctioned load and feasibility check before quoting, portal registration and document upload, DCR panel and BIS inverter selection with invoices in your name, installation, commissioning paperwork, net meter follow-up with MPPKVVCL, and the subsidy claim till it is credited.

You handle

Signing the self-declaration, keeping the bill, Aadhaar and bank account in one name, and being available on the day of the DISCOM inspection. That is genuinely all.

We are a registered vendor on the portal, so the claim is filed under our registration — you do not have to hunt for a vendor from the list yourself.

Four things that delay or kill a subsidy claim

  1. Installing before feasibility approval. The quickest way to lose both net metering and the subsidy. No exceptions, however small the system.
  2. Sanctioned load lower than the system size. Load enhancement adds two to three weeks — better to apply for it on day one than to discover it at inspection.
  3. Non-DCR panels on a subsidy application. They are cheaper and perfectly good panels, but they make the claim invalid. Choose one route, not both.
  4. Name mismatch. Bill in a father’s name, bank account in the son’s — this single issue holds up more claims in Indore than anything technical.

Common questions

Is the ₹78,000 subsidy paid to me or deducted from the price?

Paid to you. You pay the full system price, and MNRE transfers the subsidy directly to your bank account after commissioning. Any company that “adjusts” it in the invoice is funding it themselves, which usually shows up as a higher base price.

How long does the subsidy take to come in Indore?

Typically 8 to 12 weeks from portal registration to the DBT credit, with feasibility approval and the net meter inspection taking the largest share. Delays are almost always at the DISCOM stage, not the installation.

Can I get more than ₹78,000 for a 5 kW or 10 kW system?

No. The central subsidy is capped at 3 kW. A larger system still earns more savings on your bill, but the subsidy stays at ₹78,000.

Does Madhya Pradesh give an extra state subsidy?

Not for residential rooftop at present. Indore homeowners get the central amount only. State support exists for agricultural pumps under PM-KUSUM, which is a different scheme.

Do I need net metering, and is there a size limit?

Yes — the subsidy only applies to grid-connected systems with a bidirectional meter. In Madhya Pradesh, residential net metering is allowed up to 10 kW. Surplus units are credited and settled annually.

What if my roof is on a rented or jointly owned house?

You need the owner’s written consent, or the society’s NOC for a shared roof. The electricity connection must still be domestic and the applicant should be the connection holder.

Can I claim the subsidy if I already have solar installed?

Not on a system that is already commissioned, and not twice on the same connection. If you are extending an existing system, the added capacity needs its own application and is assessed case by case.

Is a battery covered under PM Surya Ghar?

No. The scheme covers grid-connected rooftop solar. Batteries are an optional add-on you pay for separately, and they do not increase the subsidy.
